Otto Frank cut a map of Normandy (France) from the newspaper and stuck it on the wall. He used hat pins to keep track of the advance of the Allied troops after D-day, 6 June 1944. Anne was pleased about the news, too, and wrote in her diary that ‘friends are on the way’. She hoped that she would be going back to school after the summer.
